The new Proteus 3000 Series harnesses the new technologies of surface mounting, heuristic auto tuning, multiprocessor architecture, a unique ultra high resolution charge balancing analogue to digital convertor and very low power double hetero junction AlGaAs LEDs, to create a range of controllers of unsurpassed power and flexibility.

The ¼ din IP65 sealed instrument benefits from PID self tuning with bumpless auto/manual switching is a standard feature on all Series 3000 instruments, and will accept one input of a universal type (+/- 1 or 10V analogue, current analogue using external shunt, standard thermocouples, mV/mA process signals and RTDs), and two of a digital type for performing various functions such as starting a profile, unlatching alarms and switching between auto and manual mode.

Six buttons make all parameters quick and easy to access for operators, and a password facility enables engineers to access all settings for profile setting and reconfiguration.

RS485/422 serial communications options are available and The Proteus 3000 units can be mixed with S & P1000, S & P2000, P450 and RDA instruments as the same, widely supported, protocol is used throughout. All configuration and operational parameters can be accessed via serial communications for in-service data acquisition, or setting up and calibration on the bench.

The dual colour displays (One of 12mm and the other of 9mm) show the measured variable (+/- 9999 digits) and the instruments setpoint (99999 digits). A 10 element bargraph is also integrated to show heating and cooling outputs or motorised-valve positioning. The number of outputs are dependent on the instrument model, which can support up to five output boards. These can be in the form of a relay, logic signal, 10V analogue, 20mA analogue or event relay driver, user configurable within the instruments software.

RS422/485 serial communications are available on the 3040 series, with baud rates of 1200, 2400, 4800 or 9600. This enables the instrument to communicate with a PLC, a P.C. or other FGH products within a system.
