The two main instruments in the Magipak range of profile generators and controllers are the S560 and the P560. These two instruments can be configured under many options to produce a versatile range. The S560 range includes the S564 (RS485 serial communications), the S565 (RS422 serial communications) and the S570 (2 programmable alarm relays.) What the user requires is specified in the instrument code when ordering. The P560 range includes all of the above, but with the prefix "P", to indicate that it is a profile generator and controller. S560 Series Controller
The S560 series comprises a range of compact (96x48mm) high accuracy, low cost, 3 term digital controllers developed for single loop operation. Simple to set-up and operate - very user friendly - the instrument accepts a wide range of thermocouple, resistance thermometer, or linear voltage/current inputs. (For details refer to the product code). Instruments configured for a particular input type e.g. thermocouple, can be field programmed for any other sensor. Automatic cold junction compensation maintains very close tracking. There are four models currently available, the S560 Controller, the S564 Controller with serial communications facility and the S570 Controller with two fully programmable alarm relays. Input measured value is normally displayed in the 4 digit LED display window; when in scroll mode this display indicates the value of the parameter selected. A smaller lower display identifies the scroll parameter when in scroll mode. To prevent unauthorised access to scroll mode, a unique 3 digit password can be entered, and a security code can limit operator access to parameter adjustment. All adjustments are made via the pressure sensitive push-buttons on the membrane-type front panel. The three control terms can be either manually inserted by the engineer, or, by selecting "Tune-Aid", be determined automatically. Control output options include continuous current (4 options), TP relay, or TP logic. Galvanic isolation is included between input sensor and output, and between input sensor and mains supply. The instrument performs well within the specified 0.25% accuracy and has excellent reliability. These factors, together with FGH technical advice and service back-up, make the S560 series the most powerful, compact three-term controller at the cost. P560 Profile Generator And Controller
The P560 is a compact (96x48mm) digital single loop controller and profile generator, developed to service single loop, single programme applications. Simple to set up and operate, the profile generator has 2 ramps and 2 dwells, and an easy to interpret mimic diagram. A four digit L.E.D. display, normally indicating process temperature, indicates parameter value when in scroll mode. Values can be adjusted simply and accurately from the pressure sensitive push buttons on the membrane-type front panel. In order to prevent unauthorised adjustment to any parameters, a security facility is provided. The mimic, comprising eight L.E.D.s serves a dual purpose. When setting up the instrument profile, the parameter being set is identified by a flashing lamp and associated legend; when in operation on plant a steady illumination shows the current status of the process. Input sensor can be a thermocouple (with measured value indicated in degrees C or F) with automatic cold junction compensation. Proportional control is adjustable from 0º in 1º steps. Galvanic isolation is included between input sensor and mains supply, and between input sensor and output. Output options available include time proportional relay and logic. Profile generation with ramp rates from 1 to 999º per hour, dwells 0 to 999 hours, and better than 0.25% accuracy make the P560 a very cost effective choice for single profile applications. Serial communications to PC based SCADA systems, PLC's or data loggers allows monitoring of profile progress and downloading of new profiles in recipe based control systems. Groups of P560 instruments can be mixed with other FGH products on the same RS485 serial link, giving maximum flexibility in the choice of instruments to suit each application. |
